WordPress – Discussion Settings

By max on November 27, 2009

The WordPress Discussion Settings page contains the following entries:

  • Default article settings - By ticking on or off the specific boxes, in this section you can establish some basic behaviour about your posts (articles):
    • Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.)
    • Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.)
    • Allow people to post comments on new articles. With this last entry you can set if you want visitors to be allowed to write comments on your posts or not.
    •  All these settings may be overridden on individual posts.
  • Other comment settings
    • Comment author must fill out name and e-mail. This entry should be ticked on, in order to collect visitors’ emails, good for sending out possible marketing material of yours, and also to prevent anonymous abusive or spamming comments.
    • Users must be registered and logged in to comment. The same considerations as the previous entry do apply.
    • Automatically close comments on articles older than

days. You can establish for how long you want people to be able to comment on your single posts. You can set this parameter to few days if you wish visitors to concentrate on the most recent posts of yours.
    • Enable threaded (nested) comments
