The WordPress Privacy Settings page allows you to establish the level of external visibility for your blog that you desire.
In particular, you can set if you want your blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (e.g. Google, Yahoo, Ask, Bing, etc.) and archivers or just to normal visitors.
Of course, if you are blogging also for money, you will certainly want search engines to find and scan your blog in order to drive traffic to it!
